The Borstiq Banana Dandy horse grooming brush has natural fibre bassine bristles, which follow a curved eco-friendly shape making them easy to use and comfortable to hold, particularly good for small hands and as an everyday essential for equestrian grooming.

Bassine bristles are extremely firm to the hand and are ideal to use on thick winter coats to remove mud and other dirt and grease. The bristles work effectively working right into the coat for maximum results.

Bristle Feel Guide

Soft Medium Firm Coarse Ultra Coarse

Choosing a brush online can be tricky when you can’t actually feel the bristles in your hand, so we’ve created our Bristle Feel Rating to make things a little easier. The scale runs from Soft to Ultra Coarse, helping you quickly see whether a brush is better suited to gentle grooming and finishing, or tougher jobs like lifting mud, dirt and loose hair. Softer brushes are ideal for sensitive horses, fine coats, clipped coats, faces and final polishing. Medium to firmer brushes are great for everyday grooming, while coarse and ultra-coarse brushes are best for thicker coats, dried mud, hooves, buckets and tougher yard jobs.

What is the Borstiq Banana Dandy Brush used for?

The Borstiq Banana Dandy Brush is best used for those dirtier grooming jobs, especially when your horse has dried mud, thicker coat build-up or heavier debris that needs lifting from the coat. Made with firm natural fibre bassine bristles, it works deeper than a softer body or finishing brush, making it ideal for thick winter coats, muddy legs and everyday yard grooming. The curved banana shape sits comfortably in the hand, so it is easy to use while giving the coat a proper clean before following with a body brush or finishing brush.

Yes, a dandy brush is a staple of any horse grooming kit because it does the dirtier work that softer brushes are not designed for.
