Equi Shave

The job of an Equi Shave

The Equi Shave is an easy to use, humane tool with multiple uses! It features a stainless steel razor, protected by a small comb. It's small and compact, making it perfect for any grooming kit!
Here are just some of its many uses:

Bridle Path

A neatly trimmed small bridle path just behind the poll and where the headpiece of the bridle lays, is a helpful area to keep neat and tidy.  Ensure you only trim the width of the bridle headpiece, otherwise more of the mane will be taken out unnecessarily.

Ears

To give a neater finish, running an Equi Shave down the edge of the ears will give a tidier finish and a sharper line.

Withers

Quite often, rugs will rub the bottom of the mane around the wither area, leaving wispy bits that are too short or thin to plait.  If this is the case, trimming away the wispy hair will give a seamless look, especially when the mane is plaited.

Jaw area

Under the jaw the hair can grow quite quickly, and although the main coat might be smooth, a fluffy long beard under the jaw line will detract from a defined jaw line.  This can easily be achieved by using an Equi Shave under the jaw and lightly down to sides of the cheeks to blend any longer hairs.

Coronet Band

The final touch to super smart hooves is a trimmed coronet band.  This gives definition between the leg hair and hoof.

Legs and Heels

So much can be done with improving the leg look by subtle trimming.  Some hairier types that carry a lot of leg hair, may need this done with a clipper or trimmer to remove the bulk of the thickness. However, carefully running an Equi Shave down the leg going with the grain of the hair will give a clean finish.

Top of Tails

Sometimes, once a tail has been tidied or pulled into a lovely shape, you may need to neaten up the very top or sides that cannot be reached with scissors, rakes or combs. Equi Shaves are handy for getting into fiddly areas!

Bot Egg Removal

In the spring, bot eggs are commonly found on the legs and chest areas. If left alone, these eggs can hatch and pose numerous health risks to the horse. The eggs can be removed by simply running the Equi Shave down lightly over the infected areas as it simply picks up the egg from the coat.
