For all the grooms
British Grooms Association
The British Grooms Association is the professional body for people with work with horses, to support them throughout their career as a groom, providing support, advice and education to the industry and to speak up on the issues that really matter.
The BGA was founded in 2007 by a group of ex grooms who recognised the need for a professional organisation. In 2010, the association became part of the British Equestrian Federation, giving grooms a voice at the highest level of equine sport in the UK.
Despite being a non-profit making company, members include those who groom for Olympic medallists, top freelancers, family yards with hairy ponies, as well as those just starting out on their career, they are also the organisers of the International Competition Grooms Group which is formally recognised by the FEI.
Smart Grooming are honoured to support the BGA and we offer all of the members a 10% discount on the range all year round!

For the welfare of retired racehorses
Retraining of Racehorses
Retraining of Racehorses is the official charity for the welfare of horses that have retired from racing. The charity promotes the versatility and adaptability of racehorses for other equestrian activities following their retirement from racing. It also protects horse welfare through a nationwide ‘safety net’ that is available to assist any former racehorse considered ‘vulnerable’. In such cases, the charity provides funding and expert care prior to suitable rehoming.
As the sport’s official charity, RoR raises funds from within the Racing Industry, providing information and education for owners and trainers to assist with the rehoming and retraining of former racehorses. The ultimate goal is to maintain a balance between the number of horses leaving racing and the number of enthusiastic and suitable new homes. The RoR funds and runs a well-established programme of competitions and educational multi-discipline events across the country.
Smart Grooming is very excited to support the RoR Chairity through our sponsored ride Katie Jerram-Hunnable and Ambassador Donna Bamonte who is the South West Regional coordinator.
This year Smart Grooming are exhibiting at the Retraining of Racehorses Showcase, held at Hartpury University & College, Gloucester. The day will be an inspirational training and educational event designed by RoR to highlight the talent and transition of thoroughbred racehorses to their second careers. For more information, take a look on our Events page or via the ROR Showcase website.
